Master Bedroom Tour

Since purchasing our first home (woo hoo!) back in November, we've been diligently working to make the space ours.
The master bedroom is my absolute favorite room in the house. It's the first time I've had a master bedroom that I actually want to spend time in. The walk-in closet absolutely sold the home to me - it's huge! It's become a cozy, sweet retreat for us at the end of each day.
Here are some of my favorite things in our pretty master!
1. Hand-made Custom Barn Door

When we first moved everything in, we noticed the entryway to our bathroom had no door. Sitting on the bed, you can see directly into the glass shower, which we thought was super awkward. The dimensions of the entryway were an unusual size, so the "barn door kits" sold at stores and online weren't going to work. So, Kyle built the door from scratch!
I loved being able to customize the style and color to whatever we wanted - and it turned out amazing! It makes a huge difference in our room and has become my favorite thing!
2. Cozy Reading Nook

Since I was little, I always loved reading nooks. Cozy, sweet, intimate places where you can relax and escape from the world for awhile. Especially in times like these, an escape is so dang important.
I've had this chair since before Kyle and I got married and have always loved it. The book pillow is from my beloved Kate Spade and the sweet Friends door pillow is from Pottery Barn.
My favorite feature, though, is the sweet rubber tree from Vibe Home. They have the absolute CUTEST plants/pots and they hand-make the stands in their shop. Their plants adorn almost every room in my home and help make every space feel warm.
3. Walk-in Closet

I. love. this. closet.
Okay, so I have a lot of clothes. And I mean a lot of clothes. This closet has actually managed to fit all of Kyle and my clothes effortlessly. (Well, after we installed new closet organizers on my side after the weight of my clothes toppled the original - oops.)
We installed the Closet Maid ShelfTrack system from Home Depot and it made such a huge difference! Not only did Kyle install it so it will never come down again, it also added so much space. Plus, if I ever need to rearrange the closet, it's super easy to change.
4. Chandelier Ceiling Fan

Pictures absolutely do not do this beauty justice! It is STUNNING in person.
Since we live in Southern California, having a ceiling fan is not just a want, but a need in every room in the house. I'm obsessed with chandeliers, so I didn't want to give up the elegance of one for a clunky ceiling fan.
Guys, this chandelier has clear, retractable fan blades! I found this one on Amazon and have been so happy with it. It has actually been one of the best ceiling fans I've ever had and doesn't compromise style.
5. Bed with Hand-made Headboard

I am seriously so grateful to have a handy hubby! Not only did he make our barn door and install our closet organizers, but he also made my dream headboard.
I was obsessed with Don and Betty Draper's headboard in Mad Men, so for our 2nd anniversary, Kyle made me an inspired one. I love having custom pieces that have sweet backstories in our home.
Our bed is decorated with Kate Spade bedding (found on clearance at Home Goods!) and Kate Spade pillows. Our family name sign is from House of Rounds and I spray-painted it gold (they also did the sign above Donovan's crib).
Thanks for joining me on this tour of our master bedroom! Making our little house a home has been so fun and I'm excited to share even more (keep an eye out for our diy kitchen upgrade). Glad to have you following our journey!
